Possible Tornado In Frederickburg VA July 2012 damage from the storm
I was driving down Harrison road when the lightening struck a transformer right in front of me. The sparks from the explosion fell on my truck as I passed by. Then the very large hail came down and was pounding the roof of my truck. I have never heard hail like that before. As I got closer to my home just off of Lafayette Blvd. I saw trees being twisted around and snapping in half. Debris in the air, insulation all in the air. It was pretty crazy to see it all happening. I called home to check on my family. They were home watching the trees fall across the street at the neighbors home, at this point I told them to go downstairs. When I got into my subdivision, there were lots of trees down and damaging my neighbors property. I was lucky, no damage to my home, but here is footage of the storm.
As of now I haven’t heard if this was a confirmed tornado, but it certainly was a powerful wind that destroyed a building and lifted the roof in the air dropped it on a nearby residents home.
This was either a small tornado or a really big micro burst. You’d have to see the building with the broken cinder blocks to fully see the power of the wind. I have a new appreciation for mother nature. This “tornado” went on a continued path of destruction knocking down trees, power lines, phone lines and more.
