Over the course of two days, participants and festivalgoers are invited to explore and relish the area’s diverse arts community and the creative process itself. The festival’s message is simple: art is important and art is necessary. Via Colori® emphasizes the experience, rather than the product. Street painting is ephemeral, so join us before the colors wash away!

Street painting originated in Europe in the 16th century. In 1994, Naples, Florida founded Via Colori®. Today cities throughout the country revel in Via Colori® festivals to promote art and the creative process.

The Fredericksburg Arts Commission Announces The Second Annual Fredericksburg Via Colori®2011 date TBA Via Colori® is the modern day version of a centuries-old tradition in which dozens of volunteer artists create large scale pastel artworks directly on the pavement of our city’s streets. Each square is sponsored by a business, organization or other entity, and proceeds after expenses will be used towards artsbased education programs in our community. Performing artists will be featured as guest entertainment with plenty of opportunity for market areas for all arts as well. Via Colori® is a volunteer driven festival. The efforts of our dedicated volunteers make it possible for Via Colori to raise the funds to benefit the community.
